Stop the engine, lower the bucket to the ground, move the control levers backward and forward to release the pressure in the hydraulic system. Slowly loosen the cap to release any pressure in the hydraulic tank. Let the hydraulic oil become cool before any lines are disconnected in the hydraulic system.
1. Drain the oil from the hydraulic tank. 2. Remove bolt (1) and the large washer. 3. Install washers (2) as needed. Install bolt. Hit the bolt with a hammer to loosen the taper on the pin. Remove the pin. 4. Remove four washers (3), two on each side of the cylinder rod. 5. Disconnect hydraulic line (4).6. Remove pin (5) from the head of steering cylinder. 7. Disconnect hydraulic line (6) from the steering cylinder. 8. Connect a hoist to the bores at the rod and head ends of cylinder (7). 9. Move the cylinder toward the back and out of the machine. The weight of the cylinder is 120 lb. (54 kg).Install Steering Cylinders
1. Put cylinder (1) in position in the machine. 2. Install four washers (2) between the frame and the cylinder rod. 3. Put pin (3) in position and install the washer and bolt. Tighten the bolt to a torque of 150 20 lb.ft. (205 25 N m).4. Install the pin, washer and bolt in the rear bore. Tighten the bolt to a torque of 150 20 lb.ft. (205 25 N m). Make sure the O-ring seals are in position in lines (4) and (5). 5. Put line (4) in position and install the flanges and bolts. 6. Connect line (5).7. start by:a) remove steering cylinders 1. Remove seals (1) from the rod end of the cylinder. 2. Put tooling (A) in position and remove the bearing.3. Do Steps 1 and 2 for the head end of the cylinder if necessary. 4. Fasten the rod end of steering cylinder (2) to tooling (B).5. Slowly extend the cylinder to drain the oil from the cylinder.6. Install support (5) under the rod and fasten strap (4) to hold the rod on the support.7. Remove head bolts (3). Pull the cylinder away from the rod and head with tooling (B). 8. Use tooling (C) to remove the nut that holds the piston on the rod. 9. Remove piston (6) from the rod. 10. Remove seal assembly (8) and wear sleeve (7) from the piston. 11. Remove head (9) from the cylinder rod. 12. Remove O-ring seal (10) and back-up ring (11) from the head. 13. Remove seals (12), (13) and (14) from the cylinder head.Assemble Steering Cylinders
TYPICAL EXAMPLE1. Install inner seal (4) in head (1). The inner seal does not have a lip and can be installed either way. Install middle seal (3) with the lip in. Use tooling (B) and install outer seal (2) with the lip out. Put clean oil on
