Troubleshooting Test Steps Values Results
1. Check The Software
A. Use Cat® Electronic Technician (Cat® ET) to verify that the software versions for the data link modules are correct and compatible.
B. Within Cat® ET or by using the operator monitor, locate the calibration procedure for the "Inertial Measurement Sensor".
C. Follow the procedure from the "Calibrations" menu screen.
The proper software is installed and the calibration procedure is complete. OK - The proper software is installed and the calibration procedure is complete.
STOP
NOT OK - The proper software is not installed.
Repair: Flash the proper software to the appropriate ECM. Cycle the key switch to initialize the software. Ensure that the diagnostic code is no longer active.
NOT OK - The calibration procedure failed.
Repair: Confirm that the wire connections for the sensor are not open or damaged. Check the continuity for all wires. Perform calibration again.

Troubleshooting Test Steps Values Results
1. Check The Fuses For The ECM Modules on the CAN Data Link Circuit
A. Turn the key start switch and disconnect switch to the OFF position.
B. Refer to the full system schematic to determine if the suspected circuit has an in line fuse.
C. If applicable, check the continuity of the fuse related to the active diagnostic code.
The fuses are closed (or intact). OK - The fuses have not failed.
Proceed to Test Step 2.
NOT OK - One or more of the fuses have failed.
Repair: Replace all open fuses.

2. Check The Software
A. Use Cat ® Electronic Technician (Cat® ET) to verify that the software versions for the data link modules are correct and compatible.
The proper software is installed. OK - The proper software is installed.
Proceed to Test Step 3.
Repair: Flash the proper software to the appropriate ECM module. Cycle the key start switch to initialize the software. Ensure that the diagnostic code is no longer active.
STOP
3. Check For Power To The Key Reader
A. With the key start switch in the ON position, check for system voltage between contact 3 and contact 4 of the Key Reader.
The voltage that is measured closely matches system voltage. OK - The voltage that is measured is approximately system voltage. The voltage is correct.
STOP
NOT OK - System voltage is NOT present. The wiring harness has failed.
Repair: Check the wiring harness for signs of damage. Repair the machine harness or replace the machine harness.
