Connections of the compressor for the air conditionerThis diagnostic code is associated with voltage to the the compressor for the air conditioner. This diagnostic code means that the voltage from the Accessory Power Converter (APC) is low. The APC supplies voltage to the compressor and to the water pump. Both circuits must be tested in order to determine the cause for the code. The possible causes of this diagnostic code are listed:
The water pump is drawing excessive power.
The compressor for the air conditioner is exceeding the power limits.Note: Excessive power consumption by the water pump can be caused by debris from the fluid which is causing excessive drag on the motor. Wear to the internal components of the pump can cause excessive drag on the motor. The debris in the fluid of the system that is trapped in the pump can cause the motor to drag. Flush the fluids before proceeding with this procedure.Note: Use a digital multimeter for the measurements in this procedure.Test Step 1. USE THE MESSAGE DISPLAY TO CHECK THE OPERATION OF THE ACCESSORIES.
Turn the disconnect switch and the key start switch to the ON position.
Use the Message display to check the operation of the water pump.
Check the current for the water pump.Note: When the water pump is running at 4400 rpm the it should draw between 5 and 6 ampere. When the water pump is at 2100 rpm the it should draw between 0.5 to 1.5 Ampere.
Note the amperage.
Use the Message display to check the operation of the HVAC.
Check the power of the HVAC.
Power consumption of an operating HVAC is 4 kilowatts or less.
Note the Watts.Expected Result:The amperage of the water pump is around five ampere at 4400 rpm. The amperage of the water pump is around one ampere at 2100 rpm. The compressor is operating when the power is above 0 watts. otherwise, the compressor is off. Results:
YES - The measurements are correct. The HVAC is OFF. The water pump is operating in the correct range. Proceed to Test Step 2.
NO - The measurements are not correct. The HVAC is OFF. The measurements for the water pump are not in the correct range.Repair: The water pump is consuming too much power in the accessory system. Replace the water pump. Turn the disconnect switch and the key start switch to the OFF position before replacing the water pump.STOPTest Step 2. CHECK THE CONNECTOR TO THE COMPRESSOR.Note: Do not perform any maintenance on the Electric Drive System for the Power Train or the Accessory Power System when the HV Present Lamp is illuminated.Note: In order to verify that voltages are at a safe level before machine service is performed, follow the "Safe Shutdown Procedure For Electric Drive Tractors" that is in the Troubleshooting, "Electrical Maintenance Guidelines" section of this manual. Note: After completing the safe shutdown procedure, inspect the harness connectors that are involved in the HV Present Lamp circuits. Poor connections can often be the cause of a problem in an electrical circuit. Verify that all
