Dear Caterpillar Product Owner:
The jacket water system of your engine needs to be flushed and filled with Extended Life Coolant (ELC) on the products listed below. ELC was ordered from the factory for the engine, but was not provided. You will not be charged for the service performed.
Contact your local Caterpillar dealer immediately to schedule this service. The dealer will advise you of the time required to complete this service.
Please refer the dealer to their Service Letter dated 24Oct2008 when scheduling this service.
We regret the inconvenience this may cause you, but urge you to have this service performed as soon as possible to prevent unscheduled downtime.

Rework Procedure
Refer to SEBU7689 for the proper drain and flush procedures.
1. Drain any residual water from the cooling system.
2. Fill the cooling system with clean water.
3. Start the engine and run it until the engine reaches operating temperature.
4. Add two cups of 269-1948 Non-foaming Soap.
5. After the non-foaming soap is added, run the engine for approximately twenty minutes.
6. Drain the mixture from the cooling system.
7. Fill the cooling system again with clean water.
8. Run the engine for approximately twenty minutes.
9. Drain the water from the cooling system.
10. Fill the cooling system with 45 liters of Cat ELC 50/50 Premix, using the formulation appropriate for your region (see Image1.1.1). Refer to REHS3843 for the procedure to purge trapped air from the cooling system.
