Caterpillar Inc., or any of its subsidiaries ("Caterpillar") warrants to the initial owner and to the subsequent owner of a new, certified, marine diesel engine (propulsion or auxiliary), that such an engine is:
Designed, built and equipped so as to conform, at the time of sale, with all applicable regulations adopted by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
Free from defects in materials and workmanship for the following periods:Emissions WarrantyFollowing the standard warranty periods, the emission warranty period, outlined below, would be effective:
60 months, or 5000 hours of operation, whichever occurs first, after date of delivery to the initial owner of a Category 1 commercial [used in revenue producing or governmental applications] marine engine.
60 months, or 10000 hours of operation, whichever occurs first, after date of delivery to the initial owner of a Category 2 commercial [used in revenue producing or governmental applications] marine engine
18 months, or 5000 hours of operation, whichever occurs first, after date of delivery to the initial owner of a Category 3 commercial [used in revenue producing or governmental applications] marine engineThe engine is certified if it has a special certification label. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Emissions Warranty Information" for an example of the film. A Caterpillar dealer can also inform you if the engine is certified and to which category the engine is certified.If an emission related part fails during the warranty period, the part will be repaired or replaced. Any such part repaired or replaced under warranty is warranted for the remainder of the warranty period.This warranty covers the following emission-related parts and components:
Exhaust Aftertreatment (If Equipped from Caterpillar)
Fuel Injection System
Inlet Manifold
Turbocharger System
Electronic Engine Control System
Seawater Aftercooler
Variable Valve Actuation System
Misc. hoses, clamps, connectors and sealing devices used in the above systemsDuring the term of this warranty, Caterpillar Inc. will provide through a Caterpillar dealer or other establishment authorized by it, repair or replacement of any warranted part at no charge to the marine diesel engine owner.Limitations and Responsibilities
The warranty is subject to the following:Caterpillar Responsibilities
If a defect in material or workmanship is found during the standard warranty period, emissions warranty period or extended warranty period, if applicable, Caterpillar will, during normal working hours and through a place of business of a Caterpillar dealer or other source approved by Caterpillar:
Provide (at Caterpillar's choice) new, remanufactured or repaired parts and/or assembled components, approved pursuant to EPA Regulations, required to correct the defect.
Replace lubricating oil, filters, antifreeze and other service items made unusable by the defect.
Provide reasonable or customary labor, needed to correct the defect including labor to disconnect the product from and reconnect the product to its attached equipment, mounting, and support systems if required. For 3034, 3054, 3056 and 3126 engines and any generator sets for use with such engines and /or branded transmissions (including any products of other manufacturers packaged and sold by Caterpillar) during the standard or extended warranty period, if applicable.
Provide travel labor, up to six hours round trip including reasonable mileage (per repair), if, in the opinion
