Problem
The 2P5834 Filter Element has two suppliers. One supplier uses formed guides inside the center tube to prevent collapse. The other supplier does not use the formed guides. Some filter elements, without the formed guides in the center tube, have collapsed due to hydraulic pressure. Tests indicate this filter element did not meet the collapse pressure specification. The supplier of the filter element that did not meet specifications, made an interim change to a center tube. The wall thickness was increase from 0.38 mm (.015") to 0.56 mm (.022"). Filter elements with this strengthened center tube meet the collapse pressure specification. This supplier has now changed to a corrugated design for the center tube. The corrugated center tube has a wall thickness of 0.38 mm (.015"). Filter elements with the corrugated center tube also meet the collapse pressure specification.
Action Required
The supplier of the 2P5834 Filter Element without the formed guides in the center tube has a date code stamped in black on the end cap of the element. The date code consists of six letters. The date code format for the 2P5834 Filter Elements is DDMMYY
