Left Side of Engine Compartment (1) Brake manifold (2) Parking brake solenoid Brake manifold (1) is mounted to the rear main frame at the front of the engine compartment, on the left side of the machine. The engine compartment hood provides access to this component. Parking brake solenoid (2) is installed in the right face of brake manifold (1). The parking brake solenoid is either on or off. This solenoid controls operation of the spring applied, hydraulically released parking brakes. The ECM controls parking brake solenoid (2). When the ECM determines that the parking brake should be released, the ECM sends an output signal to the parking brake solenoid from terminal "42". When parking brake solenoid (2) is de energized, the brake pistons are open to the hydraulic tank, and the parking brakes are engaged. When the solenoid is energized, charge oil is sent to the brake pistons, and the parking brakes are released.
