TUBE ASSEM. 3V8864 - Caterpillar

1. Drain the coolant from the engine.2. Remove two bolts (1) and elbow (2). Remove the gasket and O-ring seal from the elbow.3. Remove bolts (3) that hold the water temperature regulator housing to the cylinder head assembly, and remove water temperature regulator housing (4). 4. Remove water temperature regulator (5) from the housing. 5. Remove lip-type seal (6) from the housing. The following steps are for installation of the water temperature regulator.6. Install lip-type seal (6) in the water regulator housing with tooling (A). Install the lip-type seal with the lip of the seal away from the regulator.7. Install water temperature regulator (5) in the housing as shown.8. Put the gasket in position between the cylinder head assembly and the water temperature regulator housing. Install water temperature regulator housing (4).9. Install the gasket and O-ring seal for elbow (2). Install elbow (2) in the water pump. Install the two bolts that hold the elbow to the water temperature regulator housing.10. Fill the cooling system to the correct coolant level. See the Maintenance Manual.
