The Sensor for the Load Indicator (1) The sensor for the Load indicator. (2) Mounting block. (3) Bolt. The sensor (1) for the load indicator is located on the main frame at the left side of the machine, near to the rear of the cab. The sensor is bonded with adhesive, and secured to mounting blocks (2) via bolts (3) .The sensor and the attached harness cannot be repaired. Replace the sensor if the sensor or the harness are worn or damaged. The temperature of the machine frame must be 15°C or more before the installation of a new sensor. Local heating must not be applied to the machine frame in order to achieve a temperature of 15°C.To ensure the sensor functions properly, use the following procedure in order to replace the sensor:
Disconnect the harness of the sensor from the wiring harness assembly which is connected to the load indicator control (unit). Remove the sensor.
Thoroughly clean the mounting blocks on the machine frame. Ensure that all traces of adhesive are removed.
Dry the surfaces of the mounting blocks. Check the alignment of the mounting blocks with a straight edge and a feeler gauge. Ensure that the mounting blocks are aligned within 0.13 mm (0.0051 inch). If necessary, carefully file the mounting blocks to this tolerance. Clear the threads of the bolt holes with the thread tap of correct size.
Remove the harness that is used for transportation and the protective tape from the new sensor. Clean the mounting surfaces of the sensor. The mounting surfaces of the sensor are on the flat side of the sensor. Do not scrape the mounting surfaces of the sensor.
Ensure that the surfaces of the mounting blocks are clean and dry. Apply a thin coating of 154-8875 Adhesive (Loctite 330) to the surfaces of the mounting blocks.
Ensure that the mounting surfaces of the sensor are clean and dry. Apply a coating of 154-8876 Activator (Loctite 7387) to the mounting surfaces of the sensor.
Install the sensor onto the mounting blocks. Secure the sensor to the mounting blocks with the two bolts. Tighten the bolts evenly to a torque setting of 35 N m (25 lb ft).Connect and secure the harness of the sensor to the wiring harness from the load indicator control (unit).
Allow the adhesive to cure for at least two hours at an ambient temperature of approximately 15°C.The machine may be moved during this time. The boom can be slowly raised and the boom can be slowly lowered without a load.
After the adhesive has cured, strain and load cycles must be applied to the machine in order to allow the bond of the sensor to settle.Retract the boom and raise a load that is within the capability of the machine to an angle of 45 degrees.Lower the load and quickly return the control
