To prevent personal injury when checks are made while the machine is in operation, make sure only approved personnel are on the machine. Keep other personnel off the machine and in view of the operator. Make sure checks are done in an open area.
Personal injury or death can result from sudden machine movement.Sudden movement of the machine can cause injury to persons on or near the machine.To prevent injury or death, make sure that the area around the machine is clear of personnel and obstructions before operating the machine.
It is possible for the frame of the harvester head to fall when parked in the vertical position. To avoid personal injury or death and equipment damage, fasten the safety chain to the frame and the felling link. Secure the chain in an appropriate manner.
Note: Use the information in the reference to prepare the machine for this test.Reference: For the correct procedure to prepare the machine for the test, refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Machine Preparation for Troubleshooting" for the machine that is being serviced.Perform the following test in order to check the following functions of the harvester head.
Delimbing knives
Bottom knife
Felling link
Feed rollers
Feed roller arms
Saw bar

Make sure that the machine is resting on a smooth, level surface. The machine should be moved away from other operating machines and away from personnel.
Start the engine.

Move the hydraulic lockout control to the UNLOCKED position.
Raise the harvester head off the ground.
Move the engine speed dial to high idle.
Activate each function of the harvester head several times. Watch the movement of each function. The movement should be smooth and regular.
Lower the harvester head to the ground.
Move the engine speed dial to low idle.
Move the hydraulic lockout control to the LOCKED position.
Shut off the engine.
