Removal Procedure
Start By:
Remove the fuel filter elements. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Fuel Filters - Remove and Install".
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Drain the coolant from the cooling system into a suitable container for storage or disposal. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Coolant - Change".

Disconnect tube assemblies (1). Cap the openings or plug the openings immediately.
Disconnect tube assemblies (2) and (3). Cap the openings or plug the openings immediately.

Disconnect the tube assembly from elbow (5).
Remove tube assembly (6) and tube assembly (7).
Remove elbow (4) and tube (8) from both sides of the water temperature regulator housing.

Remove tube (11) and tube (9).
Remove the bolts that hold flange (10) to the aftercooler housing. Move the flange away from the housing.

Attach a suitable lifting device to water temperature regulator housing (12). The weight of water temperature regulator housing (12) and fuel filter housing (13) is approximately 136 kg (300 lb).
Remove the bolts on each side of fuel filter housing (13). Remove the water temperature regulator housing and the fuel filter housing together.
Set the fuel filter housings on the floor. Remove the bolts that hold water temperature regulator housing (12) to fuel filter housing (13). The weight of water temperature regulator housing (12) is approximately 79 kg (174 lb). Remove water temperature regulator housing (12).
