Flywheel Teeth Function
To calculate engine speed using an engine speed sensor, the transmission needs to know how may teeth are on the engine tone ring. The tone ring may be either part of the engine flywheel or separate from the engine flywheel. This parameter is factory set and will need to be changed if the engine is changed. Cat® Electronic Technician (Cat ET) Service Tool may be used to configure this parameter.

If an engine does not broadcast reference torque, or if that torque value would fail range checking due to uncorrected issues in the engine software, the Reference Torque Function permits the integrator to enter the proper value with Cat ET.

This value should be checked during commissioning.Note: This value is not necessarily the same as the peak torque of the engine. Configuring the wrong value may lead to transmission damage.
