Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.

Install piston crown (6) on piston skirt (7) .
Use Tooling (A) to install piston ring (5). The spring ends should be assembled 180 degrees from the piston ring end gap.
Use Tooling (A) to install piston ring (4). Install piston ring (4) with "UP-2" mark toward the top of piston crown (6) .
Use Tooling (A) to install piston ring (3). Install piston ring (3) with "UP-1" mark toward the top of piston crown (6) .
Rotate the piston rings so that the gaps are spread apart by 120 degrees.
Install rod bearing (10) and bolts (9) on connecting rod (2). Ensure that the tab on rod bearing (10) is in the tab groove on connecting rod (2). The tabs on the two halves of rod bearing (10) must be on the same side.
Apply clean engine oil to piston pin (8). Install piston pin (8) in order to connect piston crown (6) and piston skirt (7) to connecting rod (2) .
Install pin retainers (1) to piston skirt (7). Ensure that pin retainers (1) are fully seated in the grooves of piston skirt (7) .End By: Install the pistons and connecting rods. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Pistons and Connecting Rods - Install".
