You must always make certain the red plastic protective cover is closed whenever the battery is not in use. The cover is there to protect the contacts from damage and to guard against short circuit. The cover will click into a secure position when you push it closed.

When this occurs, the printer will not longer print, although the communication link remains active so that software detection of the low battery condition by the host computer will work.Once the battery supply voltage has been detected as 'low' you must fit a charged battery pack immediately if you wish to continue printing.
