ACTION REQUIRED
If an ejector cylinder seal failure occurs, this Service Letter authorizes the Rework Procedure to be performed which entails machining of the cylinder components to allow installation of wear bands.
Throughout each of the following steps, refer to the appropriate Disassembly and Assembly procedures for the type of machine being worked on. Refer to the Removal and Installation procedures, and the Disassembly and Assembly procedures for the ejector cylinder.
1. Remove the ejector cylinder from the machine. Disassemble the cylinder. Perform the salvage/rework procedure contained within SEBF9128, Special Instruction, "Salvage Procedure for the Ejector Cylinder on some Articulated Trucks".
2. Reassemble the ejector cylinder.
3. Ensure that the cylinder seals are replaced. Utilize all new seals contained within the appropriate ejector model seal kit.
4. Re-install the cylinder onto the machine.
Ensure that all air is correctly vented from the cylinder. Refer to the installation instructions contained in RENR5176, Disassembly and Assembly.
