Separate the track.
Personal injury can result from performing service on the track roller frame.Refer to Special Instruction, SMHS8273 for inspection and removal procedures before performing any service.

Position Tooling (A) to raise the front or the rear of the machine to remove the desired idler. Refer to Tool Operating Manual, NEHS1303 for more information on Tooling (A).

Attach a suitable lifting device to idler (1). The weight of front idler (1) is approximately 360 kg (800 lb). The weight of the rear idler is approximately 320 kg (700 lb). Remove bolts (3) and cap (2) from each side of the major bogie.
Remove idler (1). Note: Refer to Undercarriage Reconditioning Bulletin for further information regarding track rollers.Installation Procedure
Install idler (1) in the reverse order of removal.
Apply Tooling (B) to bolts (3). Tighten bolt (3) on abutment side first. Tighten bolts (3) to a torque of 1600 200 N m (1180 148 lb ft)
