Place the 161-3241 Quick Coupler (4) beneath the stick assembly. See Illustration 4.
Lower the boom and maneuver the stick in order to align the pin bores with the mounting holes in the Quick Coupler.

Install the Quick Coupler with the pins and the cotters. (1) 4J-1888 Cotter (2) 132-3777 Pin (3) 132-3778 Pin (4) 161-3241 Quick Coupler
Install the 132-3777 Pin (2) in the front mounting hole of quick coupler (4). Install a 4J-1888 Cotter (1) in order to secure the pin. See Illustration 5.
Install the 132-3778 Pin (3) in the rear mounting hole of the coupler assembly (4). Install a 4J-1888 Cotter (1) in order to secure the pin.
Ensure that the pins and the cotters are correctly installed. The Quick Coupler is now ready for use.Note: Never use the Quick Coupler without the safety lockpin installed.Maintenance Instructions

There should be no gap between the lockpin (13) and the back of the hook (11) .The 132-3723 Lockpin (13) is crucial to the operation of the coupler. The lockpin prevents the bucket or the work tool from being released from the coupler.The lockpin must be installed when the bucket or the work tool is attached. When the lockpin is installed, there should be no gap between the back of the hook and the lockpin. See Illustration 7.

Shim plate (18) welded to the hook to eliminate the gap between the lockpin (13) and the back of the hook (11) .The surfaces of lockpin (13) and hook (11) must be touching. If there is a gap between the lockpin and the hook, a shim plate (16) of thickness (G) must be welded to the hook. See Illustration 8.Troubleshooting the Quick Coupler
If the attached bucket or the attached work tool is slack, check for the following conditions:
Check for correct diameter of the bucket pins.
Check for correct dimensions of the pin bores.
Check for a broken spring or a worn spring.Note: For dimensions of the pins and the pin bores, refer to Special Instruction, REHS0142 August, "Rebuilding Backhoe Loader Pin Bores".Weekly Maintenance Check
Check the Quick Coupler for the following conditions:
Damage
Missing parts
Loose pins
Broken spring or damaged spring
Check for wear on the hook jaw and on the connecting pin.
