Machine Stopping
Park on a level surface. If it is necessary to park on a grade, block the tracks securely.
1. Turn engine throttle switch (1) counterclockwise to reduce the engine speed. 2. Release the travel levers/pedals (3) and (4) to stop the machine.3. Lower the implement to the ground and apply slight down pressure on controls (5) and (6). 4. Move the hydraulic activation control lever (7) to the LOCKED position.Freezing Conditions
If freezing temperatures are expected, each track roller frame should be cleaned of mud and dirt and the machine parked on wood planks.1. Position the boom over one side. 2. Use boom down pressure to lift the track on that side off the ground. Operate the track in forward, then reverse until the maximum amount of material is thrown clear.3. Lower the track onto the planks.4. Repeat the procedure for the other track.5. Clean in and around the carrier rollers and track rollers.6. Lower the bucket or implement onto a plank.Engine Stopping
Stopping the engine immediately after it has been working under load, can result in overheating and accelerated wear of the engine components.Refer to the following stopping procedure, to allow the engine to cool, and to prevent excessive temperatures in the turbocharger center housing, which could cause oil coking problems.
1. With the machine stopped, run the engine for five minutes at LOW IDLE. Stopping the engine immediately after it has been working under load, can result in overheating and accelerated wear of the engine components.Never turn the disconnect key to OFF while the engine is running. 2. Turn the key start switch to OFF. Remove the key.Leaving the Machine
1. Inspect the engine compartment for debris. Clean out any debris and paper to reduce a fire hazard.2. Remove all flammable debris from front bottom guard through the access doors to reduce fire hazard.3. If the machine is being parked for an extended period (four or more weeks), turn the disconnect switch key to OFF and remove the key.4. Lock all compartments. 5. Use the steps and handholds, use both hands and face the machine, when dismounting.
