A 146-4080 Digital Multimeter Gp 1
B 7X-1710 Multimeter Probe 1
C 9U-7839 Stop Watch 1 Note: The propel motor for each drum is equipped with a speed sensor. The following procedure can be used to test any of the sensors.
Drive the machine to a smooth, horizontal surface.
Illustration 1 g06144094
Move propel lever (1) to the NEUTRAL position.
Move parking brake switch (2) to the ON position.
Place the engine in ECO mode or low idle.
Illustration 2 g06148038
Select "Main Menu" (3) on the machine display.
Select "Machine Setup" (4).
Illustration 3 g06148261
Select "Engine Spd Sw" (5).
Illustration 4 g06148286
Select "ECO" (6) or "Low" (7).
Illustration 5 g06144108
Move engine start switch (8) to the OFF position.
Illustration 6 g06156819
Use a suitable lifting device to lift the machine off the ground. The weight of the machine is approximately 12160 kg (2600 lb). Place jack stands under the machine frame at designated location (9).
Illustration 7 g06156848Note: All four drums have speed sensors on the propel motors.
Locate speed sensor connector (10) for the drum being tested. Do not disconnect the connector.
Insert red spoon from Tool (B) into pin "3" or "4" of the connector. Insert black spoon from Tool (B) into pin "2" of the connector.
Connect Tool (A) to Tool (B). Set Tool (A) to measure frequency.
Move engine start switch (8) to the START position. Release the switch when the engine starts.
Place the engine in ECO mode.
Move parking brake switch (2) to the OFF position.
Illustration 8 g06145133
Use propel speed range control switch (11) to shift the propel motors into the LOW SPEED position.Note: Two things indicate when the propel motors are in the LOW SPEED position. First, "Propel Mode Low" will appear on the display. Second, one LED next to propel speed range control switch (11) will be illuminated.
Move propel lever (1) into the forward range.
Illustration 9 g06156837
Determine drum rpm using Tool (C). Adjust drum rotation speed with speed control button (12), to obtain a drum rotation speed of approximately 20 to 30 rpm.
Record frequency with Tool (A).
Multiply drum rpm measured in Step 15 by 2. Compare this value to frequency measured by Tool (A). The values should match within 2 Hz.
Move propel lever (1) to the NEUTRAL position.
Move parking brake switch (2) to the ON position.
Move engine start switch (8) to the OFF position.
If the speed sensor is not functioning properly or shows no signal, replace the speed sensor and retest. Go to Step 10. If the speed sensor is functioning properly, remove the tooling and lower the machine to the ground.Note: The speed sensors can alternately be tested with the service tool software.
