Drive the machine to a smooth, horizontal surface.

Move propel lever (1) to the NEUTRAL position.
Rotate speed dial (4) to the MINIMUM position.
Move parking brake switch (2) to the ON position.
Move propel mode switch (3) to the PAVE position.Note: The machine must be in PAVE mode in order to operate the screed lift system.

Move screed lift switch (5) to the RAISE position. Completely lift the screed.

Engage screed lock mechanism (6) on both sides of the machine.
Move screed lift switch (5) to the FLOAT position. Move the screed lift switch on the right instrument panel to the FLOAT position.Note: The screed lift switch on both instrument panels must be in the FLOAT position in order for the screed to lower.
After the screed rests on the screed lock mechanisms, move screed lift switch (5) to the HOLD position.

Move throttle control switch (7) to the LOW IDLE position. Hold the switch in this position for less than 1 second.

After the engine reaches low idle, move engine start switch (8) to the OFF position.

Install a small piece of reflective tape (10) from Tool (A) on a gear tooth on the left conveyor sprocket shaft.Note: If a photo tachometer is not available, this calibration can be performed by using a stopwatch and timing the movement of the conveyor slats. Choose a conveyor slat and clearly mark it with chalk or paint.
Move engine start switch (8) to the START position. Release the engine start switch when the engine starts.
Move throttle control switch (7) to the HIGH IDLE position twice. For each switch actuation, hold the switch in this position for less than 1 second. The engine speed should increase to 2200 rpm.

Monitor the hydraulic oil temperature on the operator display. Operate the machine until the oil temperature reaches 43 5.6 °C (110 10 °F).

Move left conveyor ratio dial (11) to the full clockwise position. Move left conveyor switch (12) to the MANUAL position. Use Tool (A) to measure the speed. The speed of the left conveyor sprocket shaft should be 119 15 rpm.Note: If a photo tachometer is unavailable, use a stopwatch to time the movement of the conveyor slats. The conveyor should take 10.5 1.5 seconds to make a full revolution.
Move left conveyor switch (12) to the OFF position.
Move throttle control switch (7) to the LOW IDLE position. Hold the switch in this position for less than 1 second.
After the engine reaches low idle, move engine start switch (8) to the OFF position.
