Procedure
Turn the key start switch and the disconnect switch to the OFF position.
Remove the ECM.
Make sure that the replacement ECM has the correct part number.
Connect the machine harness to the ECM.
Install the replacement ECM.
Turn the disconnect switch and the key start switch to the ON position.
Determine if the ECM has been programmed or if the ECM has not been programmed. Connect the Caterpillar Electronic Technician (ET) to the diagnostic connector of the machine. Cat ET will communicate with the ECM. Refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Display Module - Flash Program". Note: The display for the object detection system is the only ECM that can be flashed. The object detection sensor ECMs cannot be flashed.
