start by: a) separation of tractor and scraper
Before disconnecting any lines, lower all hydraulics to relieve oil pressure in lines. Let air pressure from air tank.
1. Use chain, cable and cable savers (A) as a support for draft frame. Put blocks under front of scraper bowl.2. Measure clearance (A) on each side of scraper bowl between rub plate (1) and side of bowl (2).3. Remove pins (3) and (4). See the topic, BOWL LIFT CYLINDERS to remove pins.4. Remove the clamps (7).5. Disconnect quick release valve air line (5) and pilot operated check valve oil line (6).6. Disconnect hydraulic motor oil lines (8).7. Remove clamps (11), disconnect air line (9) and sequence valve oil line (12). Remove pivot shaft from the other side of scraper bowl.8. Remove from inside the scraper bowl the bolts and retainer which hold pivot shaft (10) to the scraper. Remove the pivot shaft.9. Remove pivot shaft from other side of scraper the same way.10. Carefully move draft frame forward until the draft frame arms clear the scraper. Weight is 8000 lb. (3630 kg).11. Inspect bearings (13) in the draft frame arms. Install pivot shafts in their respective bearings and check clearance. Correct clearance is .018 to .022 in. (0.46 to 0.56 mm).12. Use tooling (B) to remove bearings (13). Lower the temperature of the bearings to -50°F (-46°C).13. Install the bearings so they are even with the machined surfaces of the draft arms.Install Draft Frame
1. Using cable, chain and cable savers (A), put draft frame in position using a hoist.2. Install pivot shaft (1), one pivot shaft on each side.3. Install from inside of scraper bowl, the retainer and bolts for each pivot shaft.4. Connect lines (2) and (3) and install clamps (4).5. Connect lines (6) and (8) and install clamps (7). Connect hydraulic motor oil lines (5).6. Put rod end of bowl lift cylinders in position.7. Install spacers (11), pin (10), pin (9) and bolt (12) for each cylinder.8. Connect scraper to the tractor. See CONNECTION OF TRACTOR AND SCRAPER.9. Start the engine and operate hydraulic controls, steering controls and brakes.10. Lift the scraper bowl and measure clearance (A) on each side of scraper bowl between rub plate (13) and side of bowl (14). From the measurement taken when the draft frame was removed, make an adjustment to clearance (A) by removing or adding shims. Correct clearance is .13 to .25 in. (3.3 to 6.4 mm).
