Start By:a. install body retaining pinsb. remove air reservoirs (service)c. remove retarder and service brake master cylinder and rotochamberd. remove front brake master cylinder and rotochambere. remove brake makeup oil tank Fluid Spillage ContainmentCare must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the machine. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to "Tools and Shop Product Guide, NENG2500", for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids in Caterpillar machines. Dispose fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
At operating temperature, hydraulic oil tank is hot and under pressure. Hot oil can cause burns. Remove the breather filter cap only when the engine is stopped and the breather filter cap is cool enough to touch. Slowly loosen the breather filter cap to release any pressure in the hoist, torque converter and brake hydraulic tank. Be cautious of hot hydraulic oil when any lines are disconnected in the hydraulic system.
1. Drain the oil from hydraulic tank (1) and transmission tank (2) in separate containers for storage or disposal. The capacity of the brake, torque converter and brake hydraulic tank is 250 liters (66 U.S. gal.). The capacity of the transmission tank is 95 liters (25 U.S. gal.). 2. Remove nut (3), and disconnect hoist lever rod (4). 3. Mark and identify all hose assemblies for installation purposes. Disconnect and cap all the hose assemblies from the hydraulic and transmission tank. 4. Disconnect hose assemblies (5) and (6). Cap and plug all connections. 5. Connect Tool (A) to the hydraulic tank and a suitable lifting device.6. Remove nut (9) and the washer from the bracket.7. Remove four bolts (7), the washers and two caps (8). Lift the tank from saddles, and remove the hydraulic and transmission tank. The weight of the tank is 375 kg (825 lb) The following steps are for the installation of the hydraulic and transmission tank.8. Connect Tool (A) to the hydraulic tank and a suitable lifting device. Install the tank in the two saddles.9. Install two mounts (11), bolt (12), two washers (10), and nut (9).10. Install two caps (8) and four bolts (7) with washers.11. Connect two hose assemblies (5) and (6).12. Connect all hose assemblies to the hydraulic and transmission tank.13. Connect hoist lever rod (4), and install nut (3).14. Fill the hydraulic tank and the transmission tank with oil to the correct level.
