Install retaining ring (8) to ring gear (5) .

Install three bolts (7) to hub (4) .
Turn the hub and ring gear assembly.
Use the following procedure in order to install Tooling (B) in the hole of hub (4) :

Place the lifting sling in the hole of hub (4) .

Install the bolt between the sling and the hole.

Tie the sling around the bolt to prevent the bolt from moving during the installation of hub (4) .

Repeat Steps 15.a through 15.c in order to install Tooling (B) in the two remaining holes.
Attach a suitable lifting device to Tooling (B). The combined weight of the hub and the ring gear is approximately 65 kg (143 lb).
Install hub (4) and ring gear (5) to wheel assembly (6) .Note: Step 19 through Step 35 are for the correct wheel bearing adjustment.

Measure the thickness of bearing plate (2). Measure through the three evenly spaced gauge holes in bearing plate (2). Record the average of these three measurements.

Install bearing plate (2) without shims.
Lubricate the threads of three bolts (1) with clean final drive oil. Install three bolts (1) finger tight in the locations that are shown in Illustration 16.
Tighten bolts (1) to a torque of 115 15 N m (85 11 lb ft). Tighten the bolts in a counterclockwise direction.
Disengage the parking brake by applying oil pressure of 3790 kPa (550 psi) to the parking brake supply port.Note: Do not exceed 3790 kPa (550 psi) as damage to components may occur.
Rotate the wheel for one revolution.
Tighten bolts (1) to a torque of 115 15 N m (85 11 lb ft).
Loosen bolts (1) so that the wheel assembly can move a small amount on the wheel bearings.
Tighten bolts (1) to a torque of 20 7 N m (15 5 lb ft).
Rotate the wheel for one revolution.
Tighten bolts (1) to a torque of 20 7 N m (15 5 lb ft).

Measure the distance from the top of bearing plate (2) to the end of the spindle. Measure the distance through the three small gauge holes in bearing plate (2). Record the average of the three depth measurements.
Subtract the average thickness of bearing plate (2) that was determined in Step 19 from the average depth that was determined in Step 30. This difference is the clearance between bearing plate (2) and the end of the spindle. This clearance is the thickness of shims that are required.
Measure the thickness of the shim pack. The thickness of the shim pack must be within 0.025 mm (0.001 inch) of the thickness of shims required as determined in Step 31.
