Remove 286-0951 Cable As (6) from the machine. Refer to Illustration 3.

Install 317-1109 Cable As (6). Refer to Illustration 4. Refer to Illustration 5 through Illustration 9 for more details of the installation.

Attach the cable to the starter terminal. First, assemble the battery cable to the starter terminal. Assemble the 317-1109 Cable As to the starter terminal after the battery cable. The end of the 317-1109 Cable As that has the 45 degree terminal should be attached to the starter terminal. Finally, assemble the nut and the washer to the starter terminal.

Attach 318-6048 Bracket As (9) to the studs for the ECM. Remove the nuts and the washers from the studs for the ECM. Do not remove the large washers from the studs. Place the bracket on the studs. The existing large washers should be between the bracket and the ECM. Place one 5P-4116 Hard Washer (8) on each of the studs. Reinstall the nuts.Attach the new cable to the bracket. Use 6D-4636 Clip (12), 6V-0826 Grommet (13), 8T-4136 Bolt (10), and 8T-4121 Hard Washer (11) in order to attach the cable. Refer to Illustration 6.Note: Orient the clip in the position that is shown in Illustration 6.

Clip the cable to the bracket on the right side of the engine. 4L-6454 Bolt (14) should be inserted through the top hole in the bracket. Refer to Illustration 7.

Attach the cable in the area to the right of the alternator. Clip the cable to the existing bracket. Refer to Illustration 8.

Connect the cable to alternator (1). Clip the cable at the location that is shown in Illustration 9. Reuse 8M-2772 Clip (18) that is found at this location.
After you install the cable, check the routing. Ensure that there is no interference between the cable and other components. If interference exists, adjust the cable.Note: All clips and grommets must remain installed.
