Handle the parts in accordance with your Warranty Bulletin on warranty parts handling.
Rework Procedure
If a failure of the #2 or #3 clutch occurs, use the following procedure to repair the transmission.
Refer to RENR6475 Disassembly and Assembly Service Manual for 416E, 420E, 422E, 428E, 430E, 434E, 442E, and 444E Backhoe Loaders Power Train.
1) Remove the transmission from the machine.
2) Disassemble the transmission far enough to remove the 2744582 Main Shaft Group.
3) Disassemble the main shaft group.
4) Inspect the 1470261 Shaft Assembly for cracks around the weld in the bottom of the clutch cylinder. A dye penetrant can be used to check for cracks. See Illustration showing a typical crack.
5) If cracks are not present do Not apply this letter. If cracks are present in the shaft, replace the shaft and assemble the main shaft group using the new parts listed.
6) Install the transmission into the machine.
7) Use the 1076826 Bolts to install the front and rear drive shafts.
8) Install a new 1194740 Filter.
9) Test the transmission for proper operation.
