(1) Steering high-pressure screen One steering high-pressure screen (1) is mounted on the rear of the transfer gear case.Note: When installing the steering high-pressure screen housing on the filter base, the housing must be tightened properly. First tighten the housing to a torque of 80 N m (59 lb ft), then loosen the housing 1/6 turn.
Illustration 2 g03586138
(2) Brake high-pressure screen One brake high-pressure screen (2) is mounted between the engine and the transmission on the inside of the left-hand frame rail in the service bay.Reference: Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Prepare the Machine for Maintenance, Service Bay Access" for more information about entering the service bay.Note: When installing the brake high-pressure screen housing on the filter base, the housing must be tightened properly. First tighten the housing until rotation of the filter housing stops, then loosen the housing 1/6 turn.Maintenance Procedure
Note: There is no provision on this machine to shut off the flow of hydraulic oil between the steering and brake hydraulic oil tank and the steering and brake high-pressure screens. Therefore, the steering and brake hydraulic oil tank must always be emptied before the high-pressure screens can be cleaned or replaced.
Stop the engine.
Drain the hydraulic oil from the steering and brake hydraulic oil tank. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Hydraulic System Oil (Steering, Brake) - Change" for information about how to drain the hydraulic oil tank.
Remove the drain plug (if equipped) at the bottom of the screen housing. Allow the oil to drain into a suitable container.
Use a socket, or a suitable hand wrench, on the lug at the bottom of the screen housing to remove the housing.
Remove the high-pressure screen from the screen housing.
Clean the screen, the drain plug, the screen housing, and the screen housing base with a clean, nonflammable solvent. Allow the components to dry.
Install the screen and the drain plug (if equipped) in the screen housing.
Install the screen housing on the screen housing base.
Properly tighten the housing for each type of screen as described in the note below illustration 1 and the note below illustration 2.
Fill the steering and brake hydraulic oil tank with clean oil. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Hydraulic System Oil (Steering, Brake) - Change" for information about how to fill the hydraulic oil tank.
Start the engine. Make sure that the parking brake is engaged.
Operate the steering and the brakes in order to circulate the oil. Check the high-pressure screens for leaks.
Stop the engine. Implement and Hydraulic Fan Hydraulic System
