(11) Oil outlet portThermal energy that is from the exhaust gases causes the turbine wheel (10) to rotate. This rotational energy is transferred from the turbine wheel to compressor wheel (6) through the turbocharger center shaft.As the compressor wheel rotates, filtered air is pulled through the compressor housing air inlet by the rotation of the compressor wheel. The blades of the compressor wheel compress the air. The air compressed air is fed to the cylinders through the air intake manifold. By using inlet air that has been compressed, the cylinder is packed with more air during the intake stroke of the piston. More air for combustion allows the engine to burn extra fuel with greater efficiency. This increases the power output of the engine.The speed of the turbocharger is controlled by the thermal output of the engine. The engine Electronic Control Module controls turbocharger speed through control of the fuel delivery to the engine. The amount of fuel that is consumed by the engine is directly proportional to the amount of heat that is generated by the engine. The heat is transferred to the turbochargers turbine wheel through the exhaust gases.Each turbocharger is supplied with engine oil to lubricate the shaft bearings. The oil is supplied to the turbochargers from oil supply lines (5). The oil supply lines for the four low-pressure turbochargers (1) come from the left and right sides of the front housing. The oil is fed into the top of the low-pressure turbochargers (1). The oil flows through the bearing to lubricate the bearing, and drains back into the front housing through the front turbocharger supports (3).Each turbocharger is also supplied with coolant to cool the turbocharger. The coolant for the four low-pressure turbochargers (1) is supplied from the left and right sides of the front housing. The coolant is fed into the side of each turbocharger. The coolant flows around the bearing cavity to cool the turbocharger.
