Stopping the engine immediately after it has been working under load can result in overheating and accelerated wear of engine components.Refer to the following procedure to allow the engine to cool and to prevent excessive temperatures in the turbocharger housing, which could cause oil coking problems.
Stop the machine and run the engine at low idle for 5 minutes.

Turn the engine start switch to the OFF position and remove the engine start switch key. Engine Stop Control
Turn the engine start switch to the OFF position. If the engine does not stop, perform the following procedure.

Lift cover (1).
Push switch (2) upward. This should stop the engine. Note: Use the engine start switch to stop the engine first. Use the engine stop control as an alternate method to stop the engine.
Return the switch to the original position. The engine will be enabled to start. Note: Do not operate the machine again until the malfunction has been corrected.
Use the method that follows if the previous steps do not stop the engine. Stop the Engine if an Electrical Malfunction Occurs
Turn the engine start switch to the OFF position. If the engine does not stop, perform the procedure that follows.
Open the access door on the right side of the machine.

Fuel shutoff valve
(A) Fuel supply ON
(B) Fuel supply OFF
Turn off the fuel supply to the fuel filter by turning shutoff valve to the OFF position (B). The engine will stop after consuming the fuel in the fuel line. The engine may continue to run for a few minutes.
Close the access door.
Repair the engine before you restart the engine. Note: Do not start the engine until all service is complete.
Turn on the fuel supply to the fuel filter by turning shutoff valve to ON position (A). Note: The fuel system may need to be primed. For instructions about priming the fuel system, refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Fuel System - Prime".
