Hot oil and components can cause personal injury.Do not allow hot oil or components to contact skin.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

Position one final drive so that oil level mark (1) is horizontal. Drain plug (3) will be positioned at the bottom of the final drive.
Remove drain plug (3) . Allow the oil to drain into a suitable container.
Inspect the drain plug seal. Replace the drain plug seal if the drain plug seal is damaged.
Clean the drain plug and install the drain plug.
Remove oil filler plug (2) .
Fill the final drive with oil to the bottom of the filler plug opening. See Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Capacities (Refill)".
Inspect the condition of the oil filler plug. Replace the oil filler plug if the oil filler plug is damaged.
Repeat Step 1 to Step 7 in order to change the oil in the other final drive.
