This Revised Service Letter replaces the 22Jan2009 Service Letter. Changes have been made to the date codes requiring inspection in the Action Required.

PROBLEM
Oil leaks are occurring past the internal seal in certain canister filters which utilize the flat-spin design.
ACTION REQUIRED
Inspect 1R0716, 1R1808, 244-4484, 272-1788, and 275-2604 Canister Filters in Dealer parts stock. Note the manufacturing date code printed on the side of the canister using the NUMERALKOD date code method.
The date code can be interpreted by substituting the appropriate number for each letter as shown below. The sequence for the code is DDMMYY.

Example: MKUNNO = 271008 = 27 October, 2008.
Remove all 1R0716, 1R1808, 244-4484, 272-1788, and 275-2604 Canister Filters having manufacturing date codes between and including 27 October, 2008 (MKUNNO) to 15 December, 2008 (UAUMNO) from dealer parts stock.
In addition, remove all 1R0716 Canister Filters having the manufacturing date code of 1 October, 2008 (NUUNNO) from dealer parts stock.
When submitting a claim for Parts Stock Action, use the appropriate 99z as the s/n, the appropriate Service Letter Program Number as the Part number, "1308" as the Group Number, "56" as the Warranty Claim Description Code, and "T" as the SIMS Description Code.
Refer to Image1 for an example of the date code on the side of the filter canister.

Submit one claim for all parts removed from dealer parts stock.
