Schematic of the number two speed sensor (right front wheel)This diagnostic code is recorded when the Transmission ECM receives an intermittent signal from the speed sensor.The possible causes of this diagnostic code are listed below:
The speed sensor has failed.
The speed sensor is out of adjustment.
The supply circuit (wire 709-OR) is open.
The return circuit (wire J764-BR) is open.
The signal circuit (wire G991-BR) or the signal circuit (wire G992-BU) is open.
The signal circuit (wire G991-BR) or the signal circuit (wire G992-BU) is shorted to ground.
The signal circuit (wire G991-BR) or the signal circuit (wire G992-BU) is shorted to the + battery.
The ECM has failed. This is unlikely. Note: Check for other related diagnostic codes before performing the following diagnostic code procedure. View the status of CID 0248 FMI 12 for the data link. If a diagnostic code for the data link exists, correct the diagnostic code. Then view the status of the other diagnostic codes and correct the other active codes.Test Step 1. CHECK THE VOLTAGE AT THE SENSOR
Turn the key start switch and the disconnect switch to the ON position.
Disconnect the machine harness from the speed sensor.
At the connector for the speed sensor, measure the voltage between contact 1 and frame ground.Expected Result:The voltage is 8 DCV. Results:
OK - The voltage is 8 DCV. Proceed to Test Step 3.
NOT OK - The voltage is less than 8 DCV. Proceed to Test Step 2.Test Step 2. CHECK THE SUPPLY CIRCUIT.
Turn the disconnect switch and the key start switch to the OFF position.
Disconnect the machine harness from the Transmission ECM.
Measure the resistance from the sensor supply J1-44 (wire 709-OR) at the ECM to contact 1 (wire 709-OR) at the sensor.Expected Result:The resistance should
