Schematic of the Left Brake Pedal Position SensorThis diagnostic code is recorded when the ECM determines the left brake pedal position sensor is out of calibration. This diagnostic code will disappear after calibration for the left brake pedal position sensor has been successfully performed. This failure is active on a new ECM.The output frequency of the position sensor is approximately 500 Hz. The value of the sensor duty cycle is approximately 50% in the depressed position. The duty cycle of the signal increases as the brake pedal is pressed. The value of the sensor duty cycle is approximately 85% in the pressed position. The duty cycle of the signal decreases as the brake pedal is moved from the PRESSED position to the DEPRESSED position. The value of the sensor duty cycle is approximately 15% in the depressed position.Possible causes of this diagnostic code are listed below:

The ECM has been replaced or new software has been installed.

Shifting may be harsh or sluggish.Note: Ensure that you have repaired any condition that would cause other active diagnostic codes that are related to this sensor. For example, the CID 0737 FMI 03 code is not active when the CID 0737 FMI 13 code is active. If the other diagnostic codes are active, troubleshoot those codes first. Then perform this procedure.Note: Ensure that the CID 0737 FMI 13 code is active before performing this procedure.Test Step 1. CHECK THE CALIBRATION
Perform the calibration procedure. Refer to the Testing and Adjusting section of the Service Manual, RENR6066 for the correct procedure.
Observe the status of the CID 0737 FMI 13 code.Expected Result:The CID 0737 FMI 13 is active.Results:
YES - The CID 0737 FMI 13 is active. The diagnostic code has not been corrected. Verify that the correct software has been flashed into the ECM, or that the correct ECM is installed on the machine. Then repeat the calibration.Repair: If the diagnostic code is still active and no problem can be found, you may need to replace the ECM. Prior to replacing an ECM, always contact the Technical Communicator (TC) at your dealership for possible consultation with Caterpillar. This consultation may greatly reduce repair time and expense.STOP
NO - The CID 0737 FMI 13 code is not active. The calibration corrected the condition that caused the diagnostic code. Repair: Resume normal operation.STOP
