Make sure that the pin bores are clean prior to the installation of the bearings and lip seals.
Note: Check the seals and the bearings in the pin bores of the stick. If any of these components are worn or damaged, use new parts for replacement.

Install the two bearings in the stick at the pin joint for the boom. Lower the temperature of the bearings, and install the bearings in the pin bore until each one is 9.5 0.8 mm (0.37 0.03 inch) below the outside surface of the stick. Install the bearings so thrust grooves (Y) are positioned at the angle that is shown. Refer to Illustration 1.

Install the two bearings in the stick at the pin joint for the bucket. Lower the temperature of the bearings, and install the bearings in the pin bore until each one is 7.5 0.8 mm (0.30 0.03 inch) below the outside surface of the stick. Install the bearings so thrust grooves (X) are positioned at the angle that is shown. Refer to Illustration 2.
To prevent dirt and debris from entering the pin bore, install all lip seals with the sealing lip facing the outside of the pin bores.

Use Tooling (C) to install lip seals (8) in the pin bore of the stick at the pin joint for the boom. Install each seal so that the sealing lip is facing toward the outside of the pin bore and until the seal contacts a bearing.

Use Tooling (C) to install lip seals (7) in the pin bore of the stick at the pin joint for the bucket. Install each seal so that the sealing lip is facing toward the outside of the pin bore and until the seal contacts a bearing.
Apply Tooling (E) on the bearings and seals in the stick.
Make sure that the pin bores are clean prior to the installation of the bearings and lip seals.
Fasten a suitable lifting device to the stick, and put the stick in position in the boom. Put the pin bores of the two components in alignment with each other. It may be necessary to move the stick and the boom in order to align the pin bores. Make sure that the threaded puller hole in pin assembly (6) is clean. Install Tooling (D) in the end of the pin assembly. Apply Tooling (E) on pin assembly (6). Install the spacer on the pin assembly (if equipped). Use two people in order to temporarily install pin assembly (6). Use a hammer to drive the pin assembly into position. Note: Do not remove the suitable lifting device from the stick at this time.
Slide the stick to one side until the stick contacts the boom. Measure the total clearance between the stick and the boom at the pin bore. The total clearance must not be more than 0.8 mm (0.03 inch). If the total clearance is less than 0.8 mm (0.03 inch), the addition of shims between the stick and boom
