Cleanliness is an important factor. Before installation, all parts should be thoroughly cleaned in cleaning fluid. Allow the parts to air dry. Wiping cloths or rags should not be used to dry parts. Lint may be deposited on the parts which may cause later trouble. Inspect all parts and clean all parts. If any parts are worn or damaged, use new Caterpillar parts for replacement.

Use a brush which is made of foam in order to clean the Duo-Cone seal. A bristle brush can leave bristles on the surface of the seal.
Use a brush which is made of foam in order to apply oil to the seal ring before installation.

Install O-ring seal (7) onto retainer assembly (4). Install pin (6) onto retainer assembly (4) .

Use Tooling (A) in order to install rubber toric ring (2) onto the retainer assembly.
