The lubrication oil pump is fed with oil from the oil tank (1). The oil flows through inlet check valve (6) and to a reservoir in piston rod (8). When saw bar (7) is fed out, the oil goes through check valve (3), via hydraulic hose (4) to swivel (5) in the saw motor. The oil finally goes through bar holder (9) to saw bar (7). The purpose of pressure relief valve (2) is to limit the pressure in the lubrication circuit. The limited pressure helps to prevent damages to the swivel seals in the saw motor. The cracking pressure of the valve is between 3.0 to 5.0 MPa (435 to 725 psi). The supply of oil is proportional, which means that the volume of oil supplied depends on how much the saw bar is fed out. By using different lubrication oil pumps, the amount of oil supplied to the saw bar can be varied depending on different lubrication requirements.
