1. Fabricate four plates (5) as shown in Illustration 2. The plate is made of 16.0 mm (.63") thick mild steel.2. Fabricate two plates (6) as shown in Illustration 3. The plate is made of 16.0 mm (.63") thick mild steel.

Illustration 3. Dimension for fabricated plate (6). 13. Bolt two of plates (5) and both of plates (6) to cover (1). See Illustration 4. Install the assembly with the plates to the inside of the car body.4. Allow a 10.0 mm (.39") gap between the car body and the cover. See Illustration 4 for the correct position of the cover. Tack weld the end of the four plates to the car body.5. Bolt the other two plates (5) to cover (2) as shown in Illustration 4. Install the assembly with the plates to the inside of the car body.6. Bolt cover (2) to plates (6). There should be a 10.0 mm (.39") gap between the car body and cover (2).7. Remove cover (1) from the car body. Do this without moving cover (2). Tack weld the remaining two plates to the car body.8. Remove cover (2) from the car body. Weld 15.0 mm (.59") from the end on both sides of each plate and the underside of the plate with a 7.0 mm (.28") fillet weld.9. Install covers (1) and (2) to the plates using washers (4) and bolts (3). Tighten the bolts to a torque of 55 3 N m (76 4 lb ft).
