Make sure that the residual fuel or oil has been removed from the threads of the boss on the tank before installing a new gauge. Use isopropyl alcohol in order to clean the threads. The performance of the thread lock will be ineffective if the threads are not correctly cleaned.
Hand tighten the bolts in order to install the new gauge in the correct position. Use a wrench in order to tighten the bolts if the thread compound makes hand tightening difficult.
The block on the top and the block on the bottom will not stay in the correct position when the bolt is tightened. Use the straight bar in order to tighten the bolts and keep the bracket in the correct position. Torque the bolts to 6 1 N m (5 1 lb ft). Make sure that the brackets at the top and at the bottom are positioned perpendicular.
Installation of a new sight gauge on a fuel tank that uses a bar will require the additional washers that are listed in Table 2. The location of the components is shown in Illustration 2.
