Start By:a. remove drum ** If excessive play in the pivot is suspected, perform Steps 17 through 20 BEFORE removing the drum.
Typical Example (CS-563 shown, the CS-533 can be supported in the same manner during this procedure.1. Install stands (A) as shown. 2. Remove clamps (1) from both sides of the yoke.3. Remove clamps (2) from both sides of the machine. Move the hoses out of the way.4. Remove the rear scraper, see the Topic, "Remove & Install Rear Scraper", in this module.

Remove eight bolts (3) and remove the shims from behind the plate. Retain the shims in their respective place for reassembly purposes.
Although not shown in the photo it is recommended that the spreader bar and shim be installed so that the yoke does not lose its width between the yoke arms during assembly if the lifting device is used.
6. Use the lifting device to move the yoke away from the machine. The weight of the yoke is 815 kg (1800 lb).
Earlier Model7. Place the yoke on blocks and attach a lifting device to plate (11). Remove plate (11). The weight of plate (11) is 57 kg (125 lb). 8. Check the clearance in bushing (12) with a feeler gauge as shown. The clearance should not be more than .76 mm (.030 in). If the clearance is excessive, the bushing should be replaced. Later machines use half sperical bearings and clearance and end play must be checked after being completely assembled. 9. If necessary, place plate (11) in a press and remove the bushing. The following steps are for the installation of the yoke.10. Install bushing (12) into plate (11), if it was removed.11. Use a lifting device to position plate (11) on the yoke.12. Use a lifting device to position the yoke in place on the pivot and install eight bolts (3). Torque eight bolts to a torque of 184 N m (250 ft lb) and then check clearance and end play. After end play is correct, tighten the eight bolts to a torque of 900 100 N m (650 75 ft lb). Install the shims that were removed.13. Install jack stands under the yoke and remove the lifting device.14. Install clamps (1) and two on both sides of the machine.15. Install the rear scraper if so equipped. See the topic, "Remove & Install Rear Scraper", in this module.16. Install drum. See the topic, "Remove & Install Drum", in this module. After installation of the drum assembly, the clearance between the vertical bushings and the vertical pins must be checked. Use the following procedure:A. Check the vertical steer pivot clearance as follows: 1. Put the machine on a hard level surface. Stop the engine, and apply the parking brake.2. Attach the base of Tool (B) to the top of the steer pivot housing
