Information:
Remove Final Drive Pinions And Flanges
start by:a) remove steering clutches 1. Remove two bolts (1) and the lock (2).2. Loosen nut (3) until there is a distance of .25" (6.3 mm) between the nut and the flange.
To avoid personal injury, make sure the nut is on the final drive pinion shaft before the flange is loosened. The flange is installed with a large amount of pressure.
3. Install tooling (A) and loosen the flange (4) from the pinion shaft. Remove tooling (A) and remove the nut and flange from the pinion shaft. 4. Remove the bolts (5) and remove the retainer (6).5. Remove the pinion shaft (7) and cage as a unit.Install Final Drive Pinions And Flanges
1. Install a new gasket on the cage. Put the cage and bevel pinion shaft (1) in position in the steering clutch cage. Make sure the groove in the retainer and the hole in the cage are in alignment with each other and are in the down position.2. Put 7M7260 Liquid Gasket Material to the contact surfaces of the cage and the retainer. 3. Put the retainer (2) in position on the cage. Install the bolts (3) and tighten to a torque of 45 5 lb.ft. (60 7 N m). Make sure the splines on the bevel pinion shaft are clean and dry. 4. Put the flange (4) in position on the bevel pinion shaft. Install tooling (A) and push the flange on with a pressure of 15 to 20 ton (135 to 180 kN). 5. Remove tooling (A) and measure distance (X). Distance (X) must be .12 .03 in. (3.0 0.8 mm). 6. Install the nut (5). Tighten the nut to a torque of 300 40 lb.ft. (410 55 N m). Install lock (6) and two bolts. Tighten the bolts to a torque of 180 20 lb.ft. (247 25 N m).end by:a) install steering clutchesDisassemble Final Drive Pinions And Flanges
start by:a) remove final drive pinions and flanges 1. Remove gasket (1) from flange. Install a new gasket during assembly. 2. Remove the final drive pinion (3) and bearings from the cage (2).3. Remove the retainer (4) from the cage. 4. Remove the two lip seals (5) from the retainer. 5. Install a 1/4"-20 NC bolt in dowel (7). Remove the dowel from the cage.6. Remove bearing (8).7. Install a 1/4"-20 NC bolt in dowel (6). Remove the dowel.8. Remove the bearing from the cage. 9. Use tooling (A) to remove bearing (9), spacer (10) and race (11) from shaft. Tooling (A) must be changed in order to remove the bearing from final drive pinion all of the way. 10. Remove tooling (A). Install tooling (B) and remove the bearing from the bevel pinion shaft.Assemble Final Drive Pinions And Flanges
1. Heat bearing (1) to a maximum temperature of 275°F (135°C). Install the bearing on the bevel pinion shaft as shown. 2. Heat bearing race (2) to a maximum temperature of 275°F (135°C). Install spacer (3)
