Before starting the rework, verify if the joystickhas the braided harness or the shrink wrap tube harness. The machines withthe braided harness on the joystick do not need to be reworked. Refer toIllustration 1 in order to see an example of a braided harness.
Remove the right armrest. For machines equippedwith a cab, the implement cover group console also needs to be removed.Disconnect the throttle switch and the horn. Then remove the right coverplate. See Illustration 2.
Remove the set screws that fix the joystick tothe lever. Keep the screws. See Illustration 3.
Disconnect the joystick from the platform harnessand remove the DT connector from the old joystick. Identify the wires forreconnection to the platform harness. The orange, black, and blue wireson the joystick are respectively connected to the blue, pink, and yellowwires on the harness. The grey wire on the joystick has no usage. See Ilustration4.
Remove the joystick and the boot. Clean the siliconefrom the groove in the lever. See Illustration 5.
Remove the sleeve, the shrink tube and the tapefrom the end of harness of the new joystick and discard. See Illustration6.
Add a small piece of electrical tape to the endof the braiding and pull as tight as possible. See Illustration 7.
Insert the harness through the boot first forthe Group 1 machines. Then insert the harness through the hole in the valveand the hole in the plate. See Illustration 8. Refer to Illustration 9in order to route the harness outside the boot for Group 2 machines thatare equipped with the Laser System.
Connect the DT connector to the new joystick andconnect it to platform harness. See Ilustration 10.
Put silicone in the groove for the lever and fixthe new joystick to the lever with the 2 set screws. Apply sealant to thethread and tighten
