Information:
Caterpillar Machines Equipped With An Air ConditionerReference: Special Instruction, Form SEHS8932, "Operation Of 1U8851 And 1U8852 Refrigerant Charging Cylinders". Larger 4.5 Kg (10 lb) capacity refrigerant charging cylinders are available for charging the air conditioner system on all Caterpillar machines so equipped. The larger capacity cylinders satisfy air conditioner charging requirements through 4.5 Kg (10 lb). Caterpillar vehicle air conditioners vary in capacity from 1.4 Kg (3.0 lb) to 3.4 Kg (7.5 lb) of refrigerant. The former refrigerant charging cylinders did not have the charging capacity for the larger machines such as the 988B and 992C Wheel Loaders, 785 and 789 Trucks and D10 and D11N Tractors.
With the new charging cylinders, it is possible to accurately measure the exact weight of refrigerant needed to charge an air conditioner according to specification. Adjustment of a plastic shroud compensates for the different volumes the same weight of refrigerant has at different temperatures. Also, an electric element on the charging cylinder can be activated if increased pressure is needed to push all of the refrigerant into the air conditioner.
The new 1U8851 Refrigerant Charging Cylinder (110V/60 Hz) and the 1U8852 Refrigerant Charging Cylinder (220V/50 Hz) are direct replacements for the former 5P8575 Refrigerant Charging Cylinder (110V/60 Hz) and the 5P8587 Refrigerant Charging Cylinder (220V/50 Hz). Both former cylinders are canceled. See the Special Instruction for complete details concerning operation of the cylinders.
