A 370-8376 Capping Kit 1 Start By:
Remove the fuel filter base.
Remove the engine oil filter base.
Remove the aftercooler.
Remove the fuel manifold (rail).
Remove the glow plug.
Remove the fuel injector.
Remove the exhaust manifold.
Remove the ECM Mounting bracket.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Drain the coolant from the cooling system into a suitable container for storage or for disposal. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Coolant - Change" for the correct draining procedure.

Illustration 9 g06278671Note: A spreader bar must be used to distribute the weight of the cylinder head during the lifting operation.Note: Do not use a lever to separate the cylinder head from the cylinder block. Take care not to damage the machined surfaces of the cylinder head during the removal procedure.
Place the cylinder head on a surface that will not scratch the face of the cylinder head.

Note the position of the dowels in the cylinder block.
If necessary, remove the water temperature regulator from the cylinder head.
