Illustration 1. Measuring track sag.A "quick check" method allows the operator to accurately check track adjustment before he gets on the machine. A metal washer tack-welded to the frame provides a reference point for correct track sag.
If the track sag is correctly adjusted, one-half of the metal washer will be visible above the shoe plate. See Illustration 2.

Illustration 4. Track too loose.The procedure for correctly locating the metal washers are: 1. Let the machine coast to a stop on level ground.2. Slightly move the machine forward with the blade in float position to assure no excess track slack remains between rear idler and sprocket.3. Set parking brake before shifting to neutral.4. Correctly adjust the track sag using the traditional method shown in Illustration 1.5. At the lowest point of sag, weld a 1" OD metal washer (4B5271 - 3/8") to the frame so that one-half of the washer is visible above the shoe plate.
The grouser cannot be used as the reference location because it wears down.6. Repeat this procedure on the other side of the machine.
