Introduction
The activation point of the brake switch on the travel control pedal is adjustable. The "Decel/Brake Pedal Calibration" procedure must be performed in order to determine if the activation point is within the predetermined parameters.Required Tools

Part Number Description
Caterpillar Electronic Technician (Cat ET)
317-7484 Communication Adapter Gp for use with Cat ET Machine Preparation
Move the machine to a smooth horizontal location.
Place the steering control lever in the NEUTRAL position.
Engage the parking brake.
Lower the attachments to the ground.
Stop the engine.
Turn the key to the ON position, but do not start the engine.
Verify that the implement lockout switch is in the UNLOCKED position.
Move the control levers through the full range of travel several times. This will relieve any pressure that may be present in the implement hydraulic system.
Make sure that the pressure in the entire hydraulic system has been released.
Turn the key to the OFF position.
Observe the state of the amber hazardous voltage present lamp. If the lamp is illuminated, do not perform any type of service on the machine. Wait until the lamp is not illuminated. Then, perform the lamp test in the next step.
While you observe the lamp, turn the disconnect switch to the OFF position. Then turn the disconnect switch to the ON position. Note: When the disconnect switch is cycled, the amber hazardous voltage present lamp will illuminate briefly. Then, the lamp will turn off. This indicates that the operation of the lamp is correct.
If an error message for the lamp circuit is displayed, or if the operation of the hazardous voltage present lamp does not appear to be correct, refer to the Troubleshooting, "General Information" section of the manual for information on troubleshooting the lamp circuit.
Once the hazardous voltage level has been verified to be below 50.0 VDC, the machine can be serviced. Proceed to the next step. Calibration Procedure
Connect Caterpillar Electronic Technician (Cat ET) to the service port.
Turn the key to the ON position but do not start the engine.

Select the "Machine Control D7" ECM. Start the "Decel/Brake Pedal Calibration" by selecting the "Service" tab and then selecting "Calibration" from the drop-down menu. See illustration 1.
Illustration 2 g02031093
Perform the calibration procedure. See illustration 2.
Illustration 3 g02031204
If the calibration procedure terminates with the following error code "10F0 - Calibration Value Out of Range Low", the switch is activating before the acceptable range. Move the switch farther away from the pedal, when the pedal is in the fully released position.
Illustration 4 g02031655
If the calibration procedure terminates with the following error code "10FF - Service Brake Switch Position Incorrect", the switch is not fully activated when the pedal is in the fully depressed position. Move the switch closer to the pedal, when the pedal is in the fully released position. Adjustment Procedure
Illustration 5 g02031913
In order to adjust the activation point of the switch, loosen the two nuts (1). One nut is located on the front of the bracket. The other nut is located on the rear of the bracket.
In order to move the switch closer to the pedal, loosen
