Start By:a. remove front housing cover
Typical Example1. Remove cover (1).
Typical Example2. Install Tool (A).3. Remove plug (2).
Typical Example4. Install Tool (B).5. Turn the engine counterclockwise (as seen from the flywheel end of engine) with Tool (A) until No. 1 piston is at top center (TC) on the compression stroke and Tool (B) can be installed in the flywheel. See the topic "Finding Top Center Compression Position For No. 1 Piston" in the Systems Operation Testing & Adjusting Manual. 6. Put an alignment mark on governor and fuel pump drive (3).7. Remove four bolts (4) and retainer (5). 8. Remove governor and fuel pump drive (3). The following steps are for the installation of the governor and fuel pump drive.

Lubricate the weights and slides inside the governor and fuel pump drive with clean engine oil prior to installation. Inspect gasket (6) for damage or wear, if necessary replace with a new gasket. 14. Install governor and fuel pump drive (3) in position according to the alignment mark. 15. Install retainer (5) and four bolts (4). Tighten four bolts (4) to a torque of 136 7 N m (101 5 lb ft).16. Start By: a. remove governor and fuel pump drive 1. Remove flange assembly (1). 2. Remove two springs (2) and two weights (3) from drive gear assembly (4). 3. Remove two slides (5) from pistons (6).4. Separate drive gear assembly (4) from advance sleeve (7).Assemble Governor & Fuel Pump Drive
1. Put weights (3) in position in flange assembly (1) as shown.2. Install springs (2) in flange assembly (1). 4. Use 1P-0808 General Purpose Lubricantto hold slides (5) in position on drive gear assembly (4). Install slides (5) on pistons (6).5. Install advance sleeve (7) to drive gear assembly (4). 6. Install drive gear assembly (4) on flange assembly (1). Make sure slides (5) fit in grooves of the weights.End By:a. install governor and fuel pump drive
