Removal Procedure
Wear goggles, gloves, protective clothing, and a National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) approved P95 or N95 half-face respirator when handling a used Diesel Particulate Filter or Catalytic Converter Muffler. Failure to do so could result in personal injury.
The muffler, catalytic converter/muffler, and diesel particulate filter will become extremely hot during engine operation. A hot muffler, catalytic converter/muffler and diesel particulate filter can cause serious burns. Allow adequate cooling time before working on or near the muffler, catalytic converter/muffler and diesel particulate filter.
Hot engine components can cause injury from burns. Before performing maintenance on the engine, allow the engine and the components to cool.
Open the rear access door and turn the battery disconnect switch to the OFF position.
Open both side engine access doors.

Disconnect harness assembly (1).
Loosen nut (4) on the clamp that secures bellows assembly (3) to clean emissions module (2).

Loosen bolt (5).
Remove bellows assembly (3).
Remove the air cleaner. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Air Cleaner - Remove and Install".

Remove sensor (6) from clean emissions module (2).

Remove four bolts (7), the four washers, the 2 bar assemblies, and clean emissions module (2). Installation Procedure
Install emissions module (2) in the reverse order of removal.
Tighten sensor (6) to a torque of 43 5 N m (32 4 lb ft).
Tighten bolt (5) to a torque of 35 2 N m (310 18 lb in).
Tighten nut (4) to a torque of 15 2 N m (133 18 lb in).
