This Program must be administered either before or after failure.In either case the decision whether to apply the Program is made by the dealer. When reporting the repair, use "PS42214" as the Part Numberand "7755" as the Group Number. If administered before failure, use "56" as the Warranty Claim Description Code and "T" as the SIMS Description code.If administered after failure, use "96" as the Warranty Claim Description Code, and "Z" as the SIMS Description Code.

ACTION REQUIRED
On selected units and at selected dealers, pumps with improved lubrication to the thrust bearings will be installed. These pumps will be used to validate that the improvement lubrication resolved the thrust bearing failures.
The improved pumps have been sent to the selected dealers to be installed on engines that have experienced repeat failures. Dealers will use the installation procedures provided in the service manual for the installation.
Dealers will provide a Bi-weekly update on hour accumulation, and informed product support of problems or failures if they do occur.
A 500 hour inspection will be made on 5 of the validation pumps, and as many as 5 pumps may be returned for a more thorough inspection at the completion of 1000 hours.
Which engines and pumps selected for the inspection and or return to Caterpillar will be determined at a later date.
Please use the assembly and disassembly procedures provided in the service manual for the engine being used for the 1000 hour validation test.
