Fluid Spillage ContainmentCare must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the machine. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to "Tools And Shop Products Guide", NENG2500 for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids in Caterpillar machines. Dispose fluids according to local regulations and mandates.1. Open the right rear access door to the engine/main hydraulic pump compartment.2. Place a drain pan under the engine oil filter and base. During removal, a small amount of oil will drain from the engine oil filter and the engine oil filter base. 3. Use Tool (A) to remove engine oil filter (2).4. Remove three bolts (1), oil filter base (3) and the three O-ring seals. The following steps are for the installation of the oil filter base and the engine oil filter.5. Check the condition of the three O-ring seals used in oil filter base (3). If the seals are damaged, use new parts for replacement. Install the three O-ring seals in the oil filter base.6. Install oil filter base (3) and three bolts (1) that hold it in position.7. Install a new engine oil filter (2). Refer to the Operation & Maintenance Manual for details regarding filter installation and service intervals.
