TURBOCHARGER GP 1W1811 - Caterpillar

1. Remove bolt (1) and lockwasher from each side of the transmission case which fasten the transfer gear assembly to the transmission case. 2. Install two 3/8"-16 NC forcing screws (2). 3. Move the transfer gear case out of the transmission case enough to fasten a hoist as shown. 4. Remove the transfer gear assembly from the transmission. Remove two O-ring seals (3). The weight of the transfer gear assembly is 120 lb. (54 kg).5. Fasten a hoist to the transfer gear assembly as shown. Install two O-ring seals (3).6. Slide the transfer gear assembly into the transmission. Remove the hoist.7. Install bolt (1) and lockwasher on each side of the transmission case which fasten the transfer gear assembly to the transmission case.END BY:a) install torque converter, transmission and transfer gears Disassemble Transfer Gears (Powershift)
START BY:a) remove transfer gears 1. Remove two tubes (1) and fitting (2) from transfer gear case (3). 2. Remove bolts (5) and tube assembly (4). 3. Remove retainer ring (6).4. Use a press as shown to push pinion (8) out of bearing assembly (7). Remove gear (9) and bearing (7) from the transfer gear case. 5. Remove retainer ring (10) from pinion (8). 6. Use tooling (A) to remove race and roller assembly (11) from the pinion. 7. Remove four bolts (12) and two locks. 8. Use two 3/8" - 16 NC forcing screws as shown to remove cage (13) from the transfer gear case. 9. Remove gear (14) from the transfer gear case. 10. Remove bearing race (15) from each end of gear (14) with tooling (B). 11. Remove retainer ring (17) from cage (13). Remove bearings (16) and (18) only if necessary. Damage can be the result to the bearings during removal. 12. Remove two plugs from the transfer gear case with tool (C). 13. Use a 10-32 screw (20) as shown to remove two dowels (19) from the transfer gear case. 14. Use tooling (D) to remove two bearing races (22) and (23). Remove bearing assembly (21) from the transfer gear case with tooling (D).Assemble Transfer Gears (Powershift)
1. Lower the temperature of two bearing races (1) and bearing assembly (3) and install in transfer gear case (2). The dowel hole in the two bearing races must be in alignment with the dowel holes in the transfer gear case. 2. Use a 10-32 screw to install the two dowels (locking pins) in the transfer gear case. Install two plugs in the holes as shown. Install the plugs until they make contact with the dowels. 3. Lower the temperature of two bearing assemblies (4) and install in cage (6) with tooling (A). Install retainer ring (5). 4. Heat two bearing races (7) to 275°F
